United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: HR Manager - Global Humanitarian Team

Who are we?

Oxfam is a global movement of people who won’t live with the injustice of poverty. Together we save and rebuild lives in disasters. We help people build better lives for themselves. We speak out on the big issues that keep people poor, like inequality, discrimination against women and climate change. And we won’t stop until every person on the planet can live without poverty.

Why work for us?

Oxfam’s newly formed Global Humanitarian Team (GHT) brings together the humanitarian capacity of all of the Oxfam Affiliate organisations to maximise the quality and impact of its humanitarian programme. As an internationally experienced, strategic HR Manager with strong operational roots, we can offer you the opportunity to contribute to the shaping of this new team.

The GHT Human Resources Team ensures that Oxfam has the management, technical and logistical capacity to scale up and respond rapidly to major humanitarian emergencies anywhere in the world. It’s a centre of expertise for Humanitarian HR, providing HR support to the GHT, regions and countries in the resourcing, development and management of people to enable a quality humanitarian response.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an HR professional with strong leadership, influencing and negotiation skills, who is committed to making a difference. You will have worked in a complex global organisation at a senior HR level, ideally with humanitarian response experience, and have worked closely with senior managers to support the needs of their teams, both operational and strategic. You will be able to manage a dispersed, multi-cultural team, juggling multiple priorities, and be able to work well under pressure.

This is a challenging role, but one which has the satisfaction of working with a world-class, motivated team; developing creative and pragmatic solutions to complex HR problems in support of Oxfam’s work in emergency and crisis situations.

Are you the right person for the job?

Please provide a covering letter which addresses the key responsibilities of the role, and the skills, experience and knowledge required, to help us identify if you will be able to do the job effectively. As we often receive a large number of applications from experienced and qualified candidates, we will generally give priority to those who can demonstrate that they meet all of the essential criteria listed.

We regret that agency candidates will not be considered. As this role is being re-advertised, previous applicants need not re-submit their applications.
