About Us:
We are an ocular therapeutics company developing novel gene-based therapies for retinal disorders that lead to vision loss.
We have exclusive licences to intellectual property relating to several near-to-clinic gene-based therapies for conditions including Achromatopsia and X-linked Retinitis Pigmentosa. We have also obtained an exclusive option to licence a further five programs in inherited retinal disease, age-related macular degeneration and uveitis.
As a UK incorporated spin out company from UCL Business, we are affiliated with one of the world’s highest-ranking universities, which along with partner Moorfields Eye Hospital, form one of the world’s largest ophthalmic research sites with the largest patient population in Europe or the USA.
The Project Manager Role:
The purpose of this role is ensure the smooth running, on-time and on budget delivery of preclinical and clinical projects. Working closely with the CEO to balance the competing demands of preclinical work, manufacturing and regulatory constraints and the clinical milestones. The role will highlight any risks; slippages and obstacles with plans to mitigate any issues.
Responsibilities:
> Work with project team and senior leadership team to successfully complete Research & Development (R&D) projects to required timescales and budget.
> Responsible for planning R&D projects and managing appropriate records.
> Communicate timelines with all team members and any issues to ensure efficient production and preclinical scheduling and delivery of project.
> Ensure good communication, organisational planning and all experimental work completed accurately and appropriately written up and reviewed in a timely manner.
> Highlight risks, timelines and project slippage to the CEO and senior leadership team.
> Provide regular progress reporting to Senior Leadership Team.
> Continual improvements to internal processes to improve efficiency.
> Meet agreed KPI’s for site, quality and business group objectives.
> Participate in internal audits as planned and report non-conformances and recommendations for improvement.
> Use software systems appropriately to support the business e.g. Microsoft Project, Excel, Microsoft Office.
> Ensure projects work to timescales and budget and work with Senior Leadership Team to ensure accurate budget.
Project Manager Person Specification:
> Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a Biological Science discipline.
> Proven experience of running projects in the gene therapy or advanced therapies arena
> Significant experience of working in a translational clinical research environment.
> Proven project management experience.
> Ability to work unsupervised and yet have strong interpersonal skills to influence; communicate and manage change.
> Broad experience of business operations including Laboratory Management Systems, Quality Management Systems, Health & Safety Processes, Awareness of Expenditure and Processing of Requisitions.
