Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in the Sociology of Health


Grade 7a or 8 (Lecturer) or Grade 9 (Senior Lecturer) depending on experience and qualifications


Starting salary: £33,242 (Grade 7a), £39,685 (Grade 8) or £48,743 (Grade 9)


You will ensure an appropriate contribution and balance of social science in both teaching and assessment within the integrated Keele MBChB medical curriculum, and will deliver teaching, course organisation and management as appropriate.   You will carry out research in an appropriate field of the sociology of health, by negotiation, in collaboration with social science teams in the Research Institute for Primary Care and Health Sciences.


At Grade 7a, you will have a Degree in Social Science, and at Grades 8 or 9 you will also possess a PhD in Health Sociology or a related area.  You will have an understanding of the behavioural science contribution to undergraduate medical curricula and an understanding of the contribution of behavioural science to health services research.  You will have good organisational skills, excellent communication skills, good team working skills, and be able to work both collaboratively and on your own initiative.


Applicants for Senior Lecturer level will additionally have experience of delivering research projects, evidence of publications in peer-reviewed journals, experience of dissemination via presentations at conferences, and the ability to manage and develop staff.
