BACKGROUND:
Internews Europe is an international development organization specializing in supporting independent media, freedom of information and free expression around the globe. The vast majority of our programmes are targeted at crisis-hit populations, emerging democracies and some of the world’s poorest countries.
We believe access to information and resilient local media are key to good governance, access to human rights, conflict resolution, effective response to humanitarian crises and public understanding of critical issues such as climate change.
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Assisting the project director and team in the organization, implementation, administration, and reporting of activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- General project administration, file and calendar management.
- Coordination within project team and between different activity teams, project director, and external partners.
- Assisting project director and activity teams in logistical organization and possibly on-site activity coordination.
- Assisting project team and external consultants in the financial and narrative reporting on activities.
- Administering M&E processes and work plans for activities of two MENA projects.
- Assisting with preparing project documentation and data collection for donor reporting.
- Possible translation of internal documents
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Proven administrative skills
- Strong communications skills, with excellent verbal and written English
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power-point)
- Proven ability to co-ordinate with others to enable effective team-working
- Interest in the MENA region
- Commitment to and understanding of Internews’ mission and values
Desirable
- Experience of working in an international development/media organization
- Knowledge of international humanitarian issues
- Ability to communicate effectively, written and verbal, in Arabic �,8?_�
