Accounts/Office Assistant - property sector



My client, a growing property management company specialising in the residential market in and around the London area, are currently looking to expand their small friendly office team.


We are looking to recruit an experienced and highly capable Accounts/Office Assistant to provide day to day assistance with accounts and office tasks. The role also involves assisting clients and tenants with their enquiries, ensuring excellent service at all times.


Location: Stamford Hill, N16 (5 minute walk from Stamford Hill train station
Hours : Monday – Friday 9.30am – 6pm
Salary: £18,000 – £21,000 per annum, depending on experience
Holiday: 28 days a year


Main duties:


  • Use a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Excel etc., to produce correspondence and documents and maintain records, spreadsheets and databases.

  • Answer the telephone, taking and relaying messages and dealing with email enquiries.

  • Input rent information onto the Company accounting software.

  • Process invoices and end of month rent statements and follow up payments.

  • Prepare the paperwork for end of year accounts.

  • Request and ensure the return of references for new tenants.

  • Draw up tenancy agreements and ensure they are signed and returned.

  • List property details onto various websites.

  • Maintain the Company website, ensuring it is up to date and accurate.

  • General administrative support, including photocopying, faxing, scanning, shredding, making of routine phone calls, filing and maintaining files in an orderly fashion.

  • Monitor and review all Company insurance renewals, including buildings and facilities insurance, seeking competitive quotes.

Requirements for the role:


  • Accounts administrative experience e.g. working with spreadsheets, sales & purchase ledgers & journals, report & letter writing, keeping electronic/paper records, organisation etc.

  • Accounting qualification desirable

  • Experience of QuickBooks or alternative accounting software

  • Strong computer skills, fully conversant with all relevant software applications (MS Office, Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and strong time-management skills

  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Accurate with excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to develop professional relationships with a wide range of people inside and outside the company

  • Flexible approach to changing circumstances with willingness to take on new tasks and experiences

  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative and work independently

  • Possess the knowledge and ability to work within an equal opportunity framework and develop an awareness within the staff team of anti-discrimination practice
