Salary: £25k, Permanent


Sovereign & Bale are currently recruiting for an Assessor to engage and support learners to achieve qualifications in a timely manner. To provide a qualitative blended learning experience in teaching, learning and assessment.


The role is based at our clients London Office, with some requirements to work across contracts for which mileage / expenses will be paid.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Demonstrate competence either through qualifications or experience across the full suite of qualifications to be delivered.

  • Manage own caseload effectively to progress learners from start to timely completion.

  • Respond to learner queries in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring regular contact is maintained for the full duration of the learner journey and qualification.

  • Where not provided, carry out an induction and initial assessment using a Skill Scan and Numeracy & Literacy check with supporting IAG; clearly establishing the correct level and qualification a learner should be taking.

  • Ensure the Individual Learning Plan is maintained and updated regularly.

  • Follow A1 and QCF code of practice to ensure a quality learner journey is made available to all learners.

  • Follow guidance with regards to teaching and assessment practice and the completion of paperwork, ensuring relevant documentation is used. Respond to feedback in a timely and professional manner.

  • Use of technology to teach learners – online tools, interactive sessions, webinars, remote learning.

  • Ensure that any one else involved in the assessment process gives their consent, especially where this may mean intrusion into areas of privacy and confidentiality.

  • Attend regular standardisation/team meetings to ensure consistency with other assessors and Internal Verifiers.

  • Undertake regular professional development activities as agreed by the Head of Skills to ensure PDP/IfL status is maintained

  • Ensure that the learner is fully aware of current legislation relating to them and their assessment; maintain compliance with ‘Safe learner’ requirements.

  • Undertake any other duties as and when required

Knowledge, Skills & Experience


a) Previous experience of Vocational Qualification led training programmes.


b) Relevant QCF Assessor and Verifier qualifications – e.g., D32/A1 Assessor (Children and Young Peoples Workforce and Early Years Educator Apprenticeships up to level 3)


c) D34/V1 Internal Verifiers


d) Good organisational skills


e) Managing day to day relationship with learners


f) Provide Weekly/monthly reports as required for timely completion of learners


g) Co-coordinating the recruitment of learners with Business Relationship Managers and other employer engagement functions in the business


h) IAG qualification


i) Excellent attention to detail


j) Internal verifying experience or working towards it.
