AHRC PhD Studentships 2016
The University of Edinburgh is part of a consortium of 8 Universities which have been awarded funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to support doctoral studentships and training in the Arts and Humanities in Scotland. Successful applicants will benefit from fees, stipend and significant additional flexible funding to shape their doctoral training to meet their individual needs. You will also have access to the rich resources and unique training opportunities developed in partnership internationally renowned supporter organisations, including the National Museums of Scotland, BBC Scotland, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Edinburgh International Book and Film Festivals, and a diverse range of arts, culture and heritage organisations.

To be considered for an AHRC award, please apply for admission to the University via the relevant School:
Please apply by 8 January 2016. Applicants will then be notified by 8 February if they have been selected to go forward to the AHRC selection panels.

ESRC Awards 2016
The University of Edinburgh is a member institution of the Scotland-wide Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) which is funded and accredited by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
The Scottish DTC has 65 fully-funded ESRC studentships available for (UK and EU) students commencing their postgraduate studies in the 2016-2017 academic year.
1+3 awards: Funding is provided for students to complete a research training masters degree (one year) and then study a PhD (three years).
+3 awards: Funding is provided for students who already have a masters degree and are applying to start a PhD directly
2+3 awards: Funding for students to complete a language-based masters degree and then move on to a PhD. These awards are known as Language-Based Area Studies (LBAS) studentships
Applying
Closing dates differ between subject areas but all successful applicants will be put forward to the Doctoral Training Centre by the 17th February 2016.
