Plant Technician/Shift Engineer





Our client is a world leader in cellular material technology and offers a unique range of high performance products, supplying to a broad range of manufacturing clients worldwide. They are seeking 2 Plant Technicians within their Maintenance Department at their main UK bespoke manufacturing site. One position is shift based, one is regular working week. Position: Electrical Maintenance Engineer / Plant Electrician Location: Croydon, London Salary: £41,500 including shift allowance. Shift engineer – average 42 hours p/w; 12 hour shifts Full training programme will be provided. ROLE: Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor the post holder will be responsible for maintaining industrial plastic foam manufacturing plant comprising steam boilers, thermal oil heaters, high pressure compressors, extrusion equipment, pressure vessels and associated process equipment. Providing electrical maintenance expertise, you will be part of a team responsible for the maintenance of plant and associated equipment ensuring that it is available to meet production requirements whilst minimising machinery downturn. You will carry out planned, preventative and routine electrical and electro mechanical maintenance and fault finding, recording the results and taking action in the case of defective plant equipment to ensure safe operation at all times. Through continuous improvement, you will support the move from a “repair culture” to an “improvement culture”. RESPONSIBILITIES: a) Provide proactive support to the plant and equipment to maximise production output. b) Responds directly or, to requests for repairs and maintenance from Supervisor, either verbally or from the written record of production problems. c) Inspects the plant regularly and notes and corrects deficiencies, and reports important problems to Shift Supervisor and to Maintenance Supervisor. Take off line defective plant that in your opinion is unfit for service. d) Provide detailed reports for all work completed within the computerised maintenance management system, EAM. e) Contributes as a team member to the maintenance department. Complete planned and corrective maintenance to ensure equipment safety arid reliability. f) Informs the Shift Supervisor when plant taken out of use for maintenance is fit to be returned to production. g) Undertakes project work directed by Maintenance Supervisor.
