The Neuroscience and Mental Health Research Institute (NMH RI) brings together world-class leaders in neuroscience, mental health and psychology research from Cardiff University and beyond to further the understanding and treatment of major psychiatric and neurological disorders, which represent some of the greatest challenges to society. The Institute membership is drawn broadly from the Schools of Medicine, Biosciences, Psychology and Optometry.


The Waterloo Foundation fellowship will be awarded to an outstanding early stage career researcher to support their development into a world-class academic leader in their field within the neuroscience and mental health research field.
The successful applicant will be required to generate and pursue independent research, preferably within the specialist area of neurodevelopmental disorders, although research in the areas of neuroplasticity, neuroexcitation or neurodegeneration would be considered; publish in high quality research journals; and pursue excellence in research and inspire others to do the same.


You will be degree qualified in a relevant discipline and you will have recently completed or be in the final year of your PhD in neuroscience, psychology, medical sciences, statistics, bioinformatics or related subject prior to appointment.  You will possess existing knowledge of specialist research methods and techniques and proven ability to analyse complex information.  In addition, you will be an excellent communicator and team player; creative, self-motivated and organised.


These are full time posts of 35 hours per week and are fixed term for up to two years.
