United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: HR Advisor


We are looking for a confident and self motivated HR Advisor to support our hosted programmes in an expert HR capacity. You will ensure the delivery of our HR services to all organisations operating from the Save the Children platform.

Our Support Services department provides leadership and direction in the business of running an efficient organisation and ensuring our resources are used to maximum effect. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.


As HR Advisor you will act as a central point of contact for queries from managers and staff relating to general HR policy and process. You will also establish organisational practice and position on day to day operational matters. In addition you will:


  • Support the hiring managers with the recruitment of key positions and difficult skills sets with head-hunting and other pro-active sourcing techniques

  • Provide advice to managers on individual issues across the whole range of HR issues

  • Develop and implement an Academy centre setup HR work plan, working closely with the Set-Up Operations Manager to ensure key milestones are met

  • Develop effective communications and briefings as required internally within project teams and externally to other stakeholders who are less invested in the project.

To be successful you will have experience interpreting, advising and implementing on the full range of HR policies and procedures including organisational change, restructures and redundancies. You will have highly developed communication skills, both written and oral, in order to establish effective relationships with a wide variety of external and internal audiences. In addition you will have:


  • Demonstrable good knowledge of HR policies and systems including employment law and how to adapt to legal and / or organizational requirements

  • Proven project management experience

  • International HR experience

  • Experience of providing HR advice and support to managers and staff at all levels in fast-paced, complex organizations

  • Good administration skills with strong attention to detail.
