Job Title: Full Time Personal Assistant
Location: North London, N1
Nearest Tube or Train Station: Caledonian Road
Wage / Salary: £28,300.00 Gross Per Annum
Driver required? Essential
Use of a car? On duty only
Essential Experience: Cerebral palsy and working with young adults with a physical disability, a true passion for supporting adults with special needs

Days and Hours: Minimum 42 hours a week and alternate weekends

James 24 has quadriplegic cerebral palsy with dystonia and is dependent on others for all his needs. James is a charismatic young man with a great sense of humour. He is curious and intelligent and has achieved both GCSES and A levels. James uses both low tech and computer based communication aids. He is verbal but his speech is usually only understood by the people closest to him.

James is a very sociable person and loves to be out and about; his particular interests include wildlife and ecology, travel, architecture and design, listening to a wide range of music, visiting art galleries and museums, and eating out. The ideal candidate will have an interest in nature and the arts or, if not, an enthusiastic approach to learning about them. James lives with his mother and has an adapted bedroom, however the enabler must be fit and strong as there is manual handling involved.

Your role will be to facilitate James’s everyday needs, help create structured activities and continue to promote his independence and further development of his communication skills. It is important that the enabler has strong use of their right hand for facilitating certain tasks such as feeding and accessing IT.
