Translator/Editor





A London-based research and consultancy firm focused on the Middle East, is seeking to fill a Translator/Editor position.


A recently-established research and consultancy firm based in London is looking for a Translator/Editor to integrate its Arabic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping translate research from English into Arabic and helping ensure the editorial quality of the product range. Salary is negotiable and will depend on experience.


Eligibility:


The ideal candidate would:


  • The candidate has to be highly fluent in Arabic, as well as fluent in English.

  • Have a university degree in Translation, Arabic, Arabic or English Literature, Middle Eastern Studies, Middle Eastern History, Economics, Journalism, or another relevant discipline.

  • Have at least 1-2 years of professional experience as translator. Research experience is an advantage.

  • Possess strong editorial skills.

  • Detailed knowledge of Middle Eastern politics and current affairs.

  • Exhibit good organizational skills, with proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work in a team.

  • Show strong attention to detail.

  • Want to pursue a career in translation, editing and research.

  • Be eligible to work in the UK. This is a strict requirement.

In the role you would be expected to:


  • Help ensure all research and English>Arabic translations meet the highest standard.

  • Help exercise strict quality control over our products, ensuring information is edited and presented in accordance with our established style guide.

  • Assist with assuring the integrity and objectivity of analyses and interpretation of events and information.

  • Commission and manage freelance translators.

  • Conduct research, both individually and in cooperation with other colleagues.

  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of our products and services by joining brainstorming sessions and pro-actively contributing new ideas and solutions to the challenges presented.
