Corporate Tax Manager
An excellent managerial opportunity within a Top 20 firm, where you will be able to make the transition from mainly compliance work to take on a role that is heavily focused on the advisory side. Working directly with Partners and being client facing from early on, this a great challenge.
This well-rounded role involves the following areas:
• Advising on structuring of employment packages, including considering implications of providing employment related securities, use of share options and structuring of employee secondment packages (inpats and expats);
• Advising on share options generally. A detailed knowledge of EMI schemes would be useful as would an understanding of the approach to take in valuing SMEs for the purposes of granting options;
• Reporting on tax and other implications of incorporation of partnerships either as limited companies or limited liability partnerships;
• Advising on operation of Corporation Tax reliefs/exemptions such as Substantial Shareholdings Relief, Research & Development Tax Credits and Rollover Relief;
• Advising with regard to EIS and SEIS;
• High level review of Corporation Tax computations to identify planning opportunities and checking whether complex areas have been correctly dealt with by general practice audit department;
• Structuring Corporate transactions such as s.110 reconstructions, statutory demergers and company share repurchases;
• Carrying out Taxation Due Diligence on acquisition and disposal of companies;
• Knowledge of international tax principles such as transfer pricing and mechanics of double tax relief and operation of tax treaties;
• Advising on individual capital gains tax issues such as issues that can affect availability of taper relief, operation of holdover and rollover relief;
• Planning for mitigation of Inheritance Tax including use of trusts and tax affect of lifetime transfers;
• Dealing with enquiries into all aspects of direct taxation including experience of settlement and penalty negotiation;
• A working knowledge of stamp duty and SDLT would be desirable;
• Experience of share valuations would be desirable, but not essential;
• Although not essential – some experience in dealing with Special Civil Investigations would be useful.
To be considered, you will have demonstrable skills and experiences detailed below:
• Preferably ACA/ACCA qualified and CTA qualified with solid post qualification experience.
• Advanced excel and word skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to produce work to a high standard, to be reviewed on an exception basis
• A good team player
• Enthusiastic and willing to learn
• Organised and motivated
• A driven person who will take ownership of tasks and drive to completion
• Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
