Sales Manager
Salary: up to £33,000 depending on experience + bonus scheme of up to 10% of your salary
Hours: Mon – Fri, flexibility is essential as additional hours including weekends will be required
Our client is based in central London and is one of the most unique venues that offers a variety of spaces for hire. From Corporate, Private to Weddings & Receptions you will be working with a range of customers that will require the highest level of customer care.
As a Sales & Events Manager you will:
- Win and retain business and to promote awareness of all facilities and services available.
- Lead and oversee the sales function to ensure that best practice is followed at all times.
- Manage motivate, support, drive, provide guidance and development for all members of the onsite sales team.
- Have event operational experience in order to develop new initiatives in line with venue opportunities and business needs. Ensure all sales opportunities are exploited throughout the property and processes are adhered to.
- Maximise business volume by building customer loyalty through the successful delivery of events (repeat business) and by establishing and growing new opportunities through proactive selling.
- Focus on proactive sales with the aim of introducing new clients and increase room hire, F & B sales.
- To provide and ensure the sales team provide the highest possible levels of customer care and to ensure that the sales team are selling the designated spaces and rooms through effective matching of clients needs and building professional relationships.
- To communicate and build the relationship with all departments.
What is expected of you?
Sales, Quotations & Customer Relations
- Ensure that all enquiries (telephone / email) are dealt with in an efficient and friendly manner.
- To respond to incoming sales inquiries, follow up on function details and liaise with the sales team on a daily and weekly basis on outstanding and potential business.
- Gain clear understanding of potential client’s requirements to provide accurate and successful proposals.
- Work towards the conversion of all sales leads to confirmed bookings and repeat business.
- Mailing marketing material, menus and directing clients to the website and proactive follow-up of all information sent.
- Organising and carrying out ‘show rounds’ of ZSL to potential clients wherever possible.
- Meet clients on events and attend client events as necessary.
Administration
- Ensure the team are following the deposit process at all times and ensure the deposit is paid before the event and terms and conditions have been signed without exception.
- Ensure invoices are paid in a timely manner after the event. Aid debt recovery for any clients who have exceeded their contract term.
- Lead, and actively participate in weekly sales and operational team meetings. Lead meetings when the General Manager is absent.
- Review monthly reporting to include team show round conversion reports, conversation rates, number of new accounts opened / repeat clients, top accounts (by revenue and frequency), top agents / commission paid.
Sales & Marketing
- Attend and actively participate in regular evening sales meetings with all sales teams
- Ability to present to new clients and suppliers
- Plan and prioritise personal and team sales activities and customer/prospect contact towards achieving agreed business aims, including costs and sales, especially managing personal time and productivity.
- Analyse and report on market competitor activities and provide relevant reports and information.
People Management
- To support, guide and motivate the onsite sales team to work to achieving increased conversion rates, event sales and repeat business.
- To support, guide and manage the onsite sales team to ensure they are conducting their role as per their job description.
- To ensure you and your team maximise selling opportunities by having full product knowledge of all items available.
- Using your event (both coordinating and operationally) knowledge and experience, train and develop the onsite sales team.
Financial Contribution
- To maximise sales generation through effective implementation of the marketing plans.
- To keep a track of the marketing spend and budget.
- To ensure the Sales team achieve and exceed sales targets (individual and group) on room hire, food and beverage, sundry items.
- Assist the General Manager in forecasting sales when required
The Person
- You will have experience working as a proactive Sales Manager or similar with venue/event management experience essential.
- At least 3 years of sales and events experience (venue based). Ideally past operational knowledge.
- Proven Track record of successful proactive sales
- Excellent negotiation skills, ability to proactively close sales when competing with other venues
- Driven and creative, a passion for exceeding clients expectations
- Presentable, charismatic and out-going professional sales person that will represent your employer in the best light possible (both to on-site client and event bookers)
