United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Advocacy and Programmes Assistant
The Equal Rights Trust is seeking an Advocacy and Programmes Assistant to assist in coordination of its international projects and to support its advocacy work.
Reporting to the Head of Advocacy, the post-holder will be required to coordinate the delivery of a number of the Trust’s international projects and to research and draft advocacy submissions and reports. The successful candidate will have experience of legal research and advocacy, coupled with first rate inter-personal and organisational skills.
This position is offered on an initial one-year fixed term contract, with the possibility of extension.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinating the delivery of a number of the Equal Rights Trust’s international projects;
- Liaising with partner organisations and consultants to implement project activities;
- Monitoring progress against project plans and drafting progress reports;
- Researching and drafting advocacy submissions, statements, letters and press releases;
- Undertaking legal research and drafting reports;
- Contributing to the development of project funding applications;
- Managing interns;
- General administrative tasks.
Essential skills and experience:
- An undergraduate or graduate degree in law (preferred), social sciences or other relevant discipline;
- Demonstrable knowledge of international human rights and/or equality law;
- Experience in a similar role in a human rights organisation;
- Fluent written and spoken English and the ability to produce high quality written material;
- Excellent organisational skills;
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills;
- Excellent IT skills;
- Proofreading and editing experience.
Desirable skills and experience:
- Fluency in other languages a distinct advantage;
- Experience in organising events;
- Fundraising experience.
The position is based at the Equal Rights Trust office in London, though some international travel may be required.
Salary range: £18,000 – £24,000
