A vacancy has arisen for a Warehouse Operative within the Borehamwood Distribution Centre of Smiths News. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a diversifying business, moving into a growth market within the parcel industry.
Supporting all aspects of the effective day to day warehouse operation including the sorting, packing and returns of magazines including the following:
Labelling full bundles.
Loading and unloading magazines (using a forklift only if trained and authorised)
Ensuring a high standard of good housekeeping, Health & Safety, cleanliness and security.
Tying/strapping bundles if necessary.
Sorting newspapers, magazines and parcels.
Achieving pack accuracy and cost targets.
Ensuring all standard operating practices are adhered to.
Knowledge and Skills
About you:
Demonstrates self motivation
Demonstrates flexibility to undertake a variety of warehouse duties.
Ability to remain calm in a pressurised time sensitive situation
Displays enthusiasm and drive for achieving high standards
Basic numeracy and literacy skills – be able to match titles from packing list and pick the correct titles and quantity
Ability to work to tight deadlines
Ability to work in a team and develop relationships with colleagues
Able to give, receive and follow verbal and written instructions
Able to work on own initiative
