Based at our London Head Office, this is a new role created to increase and improve our events and campaigns activity.
Reporting to the Assistant General Secretary and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in our Research, Policy and Communications Unit (RCPU), the Events and Campaigns Officer will help organise events and conferences and co-ordinate our exhibitions activities.
The role will also provide professional campaigns support, dedicated to increasing our campaigning capacity and effectiveness.
Working within the RCPU team, the Officer will also be responsible for day-to-day tasks, such as maintaining and monitoring our social media, updating our website and helping produce creative campaigns materials, manage union merchandise and bring functional support to our Head Office operations.
Events & Campaign Officer Main Duties and Responsibilities:
> Budgeting, design and planning of events, campaigns & conferences
> Design of campaign and promotional materials to enhance brand awareness
> Research and secure appropriate quality third-party suppliers for events including food/beverage/technical and other accredited suppliers
> Support our online presence, including updating the website and maintaining social media feeds
> Manage our merchandise and bring functional support to the operations of Head Office
> Comprehensive budget management to ensure the timely processing of invoices and billing
> Production of concise reports illustrating the status of projects/events including post-event evaluation/feedback reports
> Build strong professional relationships with external stakeholders and contacts within the conference/event management sector
> Update and maintain professional contact and stakeholder lists
About You:
> Excellent verbal and written communications skills and people skills
> Extensive experience within project, campaign, and event management
> Understanding of the application of marketing techniques to the design and management of campaigns/events
> Confident networking skills to build relationships within the UK’s conference/events sector
> Proactive and strategic planner with strong budget planning skills
> Confident and self-motivated with the ability to work to strict timescales
> Strong level of computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office including Publisher) and data handling
> Proficient in all aspects of digital media, including experience using Content Management Systems and email marketing
> The ability to develop campaign and promotional materials within brand guidelines and organisational objectives
> The ability to build and cultivate strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders and external contacts
> Work alongside others to contribute to the design of web-site and online facilities to enhance and promote campaigns
> A commitment to equality and diversity objectives
