Financial Controller - Global Markets
My client a leading banking business is recruiting for a Global Markets Financial Controller to join their London office.
This is a highly visible role within the UK and Europe Regional Finance function supporting the Financial Markets (FM) business and Financial Institutions (FI) segment. The role involves extensive interaction with senior stakeholders and is focused on the following with respect to FM and FI:
Performance management, strong emphasis on Product analytics and providing value added analysis and commercial insight to help the strategic development of FM business.
• To be the finance business partner for Europe FI Segment team responsible for reporting on the results across the product range and environment.
• Building balance sheet management capabilities / RWA & RoRWA optimization
• Manage internal and external Audit engagements.
• Developing and enhancing Finance support and reporting to key Business Partners
Other role aspects:
• Expert level FM Product knowledge to provide performance analysis (Client Income & Own Account) for decision making and strategic development.
• Regular interaction with the FI head and FI sub segment leads on business performance and drivers, understanding the
• Partner with the Global FM PC and VC functions in the control and accounting for the FM business. Role holder required to have/develop expert level knowledge in both the principles and frameworks supporting a broad range of FM processes including reserve computations, Price Testing variances, Off Market transactions, Rate submissions, Significant Deal Reviews and Transfer Pricing.
• Provision of weekly and monthly financial performance reports and comprehensive business analysis to FM and FI Management team.
• Management of regional forecasting and budgeting processes for all FM Products and FI segment.
• Develop a detailed understanding of balance sheet drivers to ensure the FM business and FI Segment at a client level are within RoRWA targets and.
• Support and resolve queries from the business and resolve reporting issues.
• Lead the management and development of two team member to ensure the quality of their output and understanding and to maximise their potential
The person:
To be considered for this role you will have the following experience:
• Qualified Accountant.
• Relevant experience gained within global markets finance or product control.
• Well developed Global / Financial markets product knowledge
• Ability to provide value added analysis in support of the strategic development of FM business
• Strong team working and networking capability – success of role is reliant on ability to work with many different teams effectively
• Financial Control and ability to manage regulatory change
• Experience of performance management of Client Revenues in a Wholesale Banking environment.
