Research Assistant/Associate
The Department of Psychology is seeking to appoint a full-time research assistant or research associate to support cognitive neuroscience projects primarily on modelling visual working memory function and development and mathematical development in children, adolescents and adults. The job offers an opportunity to work both with brain electro-physiological and behavioural data.
Applicants for the research assistant role should have a BSc (2.1 or higher) degree in physics, computer science and/or engineering. In addition, applicants for the research associate role should have a PhD in physics, computer science, engineering, psychology, neuroscience or medicine. All applicants must be interested in cognitive neuroscience data analysis. Applicants should also be enthusiastic about data, ambitious about academic achievements and be able to work independently to very high standards at high workloads. Excellent working knowledge of coding in Matlab and/or Python is essential, coding in Matlab will be necessary in the job. Excellent understanding of statistics and/or time series analysis is essential. In addition to the above, applicants for the post of research associate should also have documented experience in publishing scientific papers (only peer reviewed scientific journals are acceptable to document this experience). The post-holder will be based in Central Cambridge (Downing Site). The salary range for the research assistant is £25,023 – £28,982 per annum and the salary range for the research Associate role is £28,982 – £37,768 per annum.
The position is available from 1 February 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter, for a period of 24 months.
