PC Section Editor - XO.TV - London
XO.TV, a video game website soft launching in the UK in January, is looking for a Section Editor for its PC Section. This is an exciting role for a lover of PC games and video games.
The position is in a paid freelance capacity with the Section Editor being paid £140pcm for 5-6 articles a week from early January (when the website will soft launch). This amount will increase to £280pcm in March, when the website officially launches, with the Section Editor being required to produce 10-12 articles/news pieces/features a week.
The PC Section Editor will:
- Produce content for the XO.TV website in accordance with the website’s style guide
- Help build, manage and work with a group of freelance writers/contributors
- Reach out to people within the games industry (game developers, game publishers and industry insiders) on a frequent basis for interviews and content
- Analyse, and report on, key PC games, events and news
- Work with the Editor-in-Chief to maximise content and website growth
To qualify you will have:
- Unprecedented knowledge about the history of PC gaming, current games on the PC and the worldwide video game scene
- A good grasp on what other industry leaders are doing and how they’re effecting the PC platform
- An approachable personality and are able to build relationships with key industry stake holders, developers and industry insiders
- The ability to write proficiently; if you don’t know the difference between “its” and “it’s”, this might not be the job for you
- The ability to follow in-house style guides and act in a professional manner at all times
- The ability to analyse the industry and spot upcoming trends and games
- Knowledge of not only know where to find the news, but also where the news will hit before it happens
- Knowledge of the indie/hobbyist scene on PC
