Border Force Officer - UK Border Force - Heathrow
Salary £19,831 + shift pay of up to 49% premium
18 month fixed-term contract with possibility of permanent post
You can positively affect some of the challenges facing our country today by joining the Home Office as a Border Force Officer. You would play a vital part in maintaining the security and integrity of the UK border through facilitating the legitimate movement of individuals and trade across the border.
Border Force Officers are engaged in a variety of exciting roles, dependent on the location and business need this can include:
Operating primary check points and making decisions on allowing or prohibiting the movement of passengers
Detecting prohibited goods
Assisting with offence investigations including conducting interviews and attending court as a witness
You could also be involved in strategic objectives such as counter terrorism and human trafficking
To be considered for this role you’ll be someone with strong personal ethics and honesty, with the ability to make effective decisions quickly whilst demonstrating professionalism when dealing with members of the public.
To be eligible you will:
Be a UK national
Be over 18 years old on 4th April 2016
Hold a valid passport and full UK driving licence
Be able to pass security clearance
Have 5 GCSEs at Grade A*-C, including Maths and English (or equivalent qualifications). For example, equivalents may include other qualifications at the same level as GCSE, such as O Levels, CSE’s or Standard Grades. We will also consider Army or other vocational equivalents
Or;
You must have either served as a fully attested Police Officer / Special Constable or have served in the British Armed Forces
Border Force operate 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year and you would be required to work flexibly and operate over the a 24/7 shift rota which includes nights, weekends and public holidays.
