Endoscopy Nurse

An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join the team at North East London NHS Treatment Centre as an endoscopy Nurse, whilst in this role you will be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development of programmes of care and is accountable as a named nurse. Expected to deliver all aspects of nursing care, with supervision as necessary.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Endoscopy Manager the post holder will;

• Maintain and monitor high standards of care by using a systematic approach to individualised care, by planning and delivering care around the model of nursing in the clinical area.
• Have a good understanding of the difference between local anaesthetic and sedation and to give appropriate advice accordingly.
• Be competent in setting up the endoscopy room, ensuring relevant equipment is available.
• Contribute to an effective and efficient communication system with all staff and other disciplines and patients as appropriate.
• Update endoscopy skills by attending courses and BSG conferences.
• Recognise and report situations that may be detrimental to the health and well being of the individual.

Skill, Knowledge and Experience;

To be successful in the role you will be expected to;

• Have evidence of competence as an Endoscopy RN
• Effective management of all resources especially financial and human.
• Have knowledge of current research, key issues and development in theatre practice.
• Have knowledge of Health & Safety/Risk Management within the operating department.
• Show to relevant experience as an Endoscopy RN.
