The Role


We currently have an opportunity for a Pensions Analyst to join our Group Pensions, Treasury, ALM & Capital Management Team. As a Pensions Analyst you will be responsible for supporting the Pensions & Investment Manager in managing all pension scheme matters from a company perspective, contributing to appropriate projects including; optimisation and choice of investments, reporting and monitoring, liability de-risking, IFRS balance sheet and P&L management, calculation of economic capital.

Key Accountabilities



  • Working with the Investment Advisors to the Scheme to define and implement an appropriate overall investment strategy, including de-risking, in line with company objectives




  • Produce monthly reporting on pension scheme asset performance including analysis on hedging, liquidity and leverage position




  • Assist in the implementation of liability de-risking strategies in the most effective way possible, ensuring compliance with pension scheme regulations.




  • Contribute to the upkeep of the risk register for the pension scheme capturing all risks, along with input and suggestions on appropriate controls to manage these risks




  • Calculation of the economic capital associated with the pension scheme on a regular basis (STEC), with appropriate reporting to stakeholders and committees




  • Contribute towards manager research meeting and asset class research, interacting with external providers as well as with the in-house team. Produce written reports on research findings.




  • Assist with monthly liability valuations, including assisting with IFRS accounting process at the year end and half-year, ensure appropriate inputs into the strategic planning cycle and monitor balance sheet impact of de-risking activities.




  • Delivery of accurate and timely reporting and MI for the AXA UK Board, the AXA UK Executive Committee, AXA UK Investment Committee, AXA UK Risk Committee, AXA Group and other third parties (e.g. regulators) with relevant analysis.

To be successful in this role you will possess strong relationship management skills with the ability to build and manage key relationships and work independently. You will also possess good written and verbal communication skills coupled with highly developed analytical and problem solving skills.


You must be able to demonstrate relevant product and industry knowledge around pensions, investment, and risk management along with learning agility to continue to build your knowledge and expertise.
