Back-End Developer – Ruby on Rails, ROR, APIs, php, full-stack, agile, XP, HTML, javascript, CSS

Central London – Up to £50000 per annum + excellent benefits

My client, a forward-thinking and dynamic organisation that is rapidly becoming a thought leader in its field, is looking to recruit a talented Back-End Developer to design and develop web applications across the full project life cycle.

The post holder will be tasked with designing and building web and mobile products, as well as designing and implementing APIs for internal and external use.

It is essential that the successful candidate possesses the following experience:

• Solid experience of web application development in Ruby onRails


• Exposure to the full product development life cycle of commercial web applications


• Good knowledge of development patterns and practices


• Experience with many of the technologies used by the organisation, including:

o Languages: Ruby, JavaScript, HTML, YAML, JSON

o Frameworks: Rails, JQuery

o Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL

o Testing frameworks: RSpec, Capybara, Cucumber

o Back-end technologies: Prismic, ActiveRecord,

ElasticSearch

o Build and deployment technologies: Bundler, Bower,

Chef, Jenkins

o Hosting and web server technologies: Linux, NginX,

Unicorn, Memcached, Azure

o Monitoring tools: Kibana, Rollbar, Nagios

o Web protocols: HTTP, SSL, SMTP

o Version control: GitHub

• Experience of XP development practices such as continuous integration and test-driven development


• Knowledge of data protection principles and practices


• Experience in working as part of an Agile team, including pair programming


• Experience in working directly with stakeholders in a highly professional manner


• Good communication skills


• Good organisational skills


• Strong attention to detail and accuracy


• Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure


• Must be willing to work outside office hours on occasion, if required to ensure business continuity
