About the role
DCC Smart Metering has an opportunity for a Head of Demand Management to join our organisation.
We are delivering technology infrastructure, services, and M2M products which will allow energy suppliers to roll out millions of smart electricity and gas meters to homes and small non-domestic properties. Funded by the energy industry, the network will connect smart meters to the business systems of energy suppliers, network operators and other authorised service users. The smart metering network will help Great Britain become a global leader in smart energy and the development of smart grids.

Data and Communications Company (DCC) is part of Capita plc, the UK’s leading provider of business process management and integrated professional support service solutions, with 68,000 staff across the UK, Europe, South Africa and India.
Capita was awarded the DCC Licence in October 2013 as part of the UK government’s smart metering programme. This was set up to enable the roll out of over 53m smart meters across the UK by 2020.
The programme aims to pass a number of benefits onto consumers, allowing them to;
·Manage and control their energy use to save money and reduce carbon emissions
·Provide accurate meter readings and real-time information
·Help them make informed purchasing decisions and reducing the barriers to switching
What you will do:
The Head of Demand Management will:
Short Term
Work with the data service provider and internal resources to implement the technical demand management capability
Work with internal resources to drive regulation updates required to enact demand management capabilities
Finalise immediate, interim and to-be demand management capability including roles, responsibilities and processes across DCC teams and partners
Long Term
Work with users to reduce volatility of demand while at the same time taking account of user commercial realities with the goal of smoothing demand to protect the system full-stop and ensure optimal performance
Enable decisioning within Smart DCC and for external partners such as optimal maintenance windows, costing Change Requests, informing capacity requirements, incident management, negotiating suitable batch sizes and timings of planned events that could cause a spike in demand
Act as Product Owner for the already created Demand Model simulation model:
*Driving use of the model through the Smart DCC business
*Prioritising required improvements
*Ensuring confidence in the model internally and externally
*Gathering risk scenario requirements from the business
*Running analyses as needed
*Developing, running and reviewing results from a scenario regression pack simulating important future scenarios, highlighting potential issues with any changes
*Work with all parties to continuously calibrate model
*Work collaboratively with operations to ensure demand management is managed at all levels with relevant system information
Your experience will include:
Experience in high-governance environments in a management function
Working within a B2B environment within the customer engagement function building strong relationships
Analytical skills: data analysis, forecasting, scenario modelling, sensitivity analyses
Working between technical and business stakeholders, translating needs to actions
C-Level / Senior Stakeholder influencing skills
Supplier management
Developing a team in a new space
Driving internal change
Achieving success within a high uncertainty environment
Understands key technology risks
