Lecturer in Psychology/functional imaging (fMRI) (Teaching and Research)
Applications are invited for the above full-time position in the School of Psychology.
The School of Psychology is seeking to appoint a motivated individual to a research and teaching Lectureship in order to extend our existing research strengths in neuroimaging at the Bangor Imaging Unit. (http://biu.bangor.ac.uk/).
The appointee will lead an independent research programme in a core area of neuroimaging, ideally connecting to existing areas of focus in the School including cognitive and social neuroscience, language and development, psychological interventions, and behaviour change. Cutting across these themes, we particularly welcome applications from individuals with a developing international track record in: advanced fMRI analysis methods (including computational modelling); ‘multi-modal’ imaging combining fMRI with other techniques such as ERP or TMS; and the application of fMRI in neurological or psychological disorders including neuro-rehabilitation.
Teaching requirements of this post are light by UK standards and will be expected to be closely related to the appointee’s research specialism. The appointment is permanent, subject to successful probation.
We are one of the UK’s most successful Psychology departments, with an established track record of excellence in research: 89% of our total research activity was judged to be internationally excellent or world-leading in REF 2014; overall, the School ranked 17th out of 82 universities. Our research is supported by a state-of-the-art research environment. In the cognitive and clinical domains, this includes an in-house research-dedicated Phillips 3T MRI, supporting fMRI, MRS and DTI; multiple eye-tracking labs; high-density EEG systems; and MRI-guided stimulation techniques including TMS and tDCS.
Bangor is a friendly and affordable university town, with good transport links, located in an outstandingly beautiful region notable for the Snowdonia National Park and the award-winning beaches of Anglesey.
The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as possible.
Applications will only be accepted via our on-line recruitment website, jobs.bangor.ac.uk. However, in cases of access issues due to disability, paper application forms can be made available by telephoning 01248 383865.
Closing date for applications: Friday 7th October, 2016.
Committed To Equal Opportunities.
