Medical Needs PRU Needs Science Teacher
This position is a fantastic opportunity for a Science Teacher to start a super interesting role working in the Medical provision of this provision based in Bexley – South East London.
The aim and purpose of the centre is to provide a combination of CBT and psychotherapeutic interventions, sometimes alongside education and some through outreach, to support children and young people through challenging periods where attendance at mainstream school may not be possible for a short period of time.

This is a teaching role and you would be working with high functioning intelligent students who display mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, school phobia or self-harming behaviours for example. From the outset, the plan is always to support the pupil back into their home school and improve their coping strategies as well as to work with schools on making appropriate adaptations to meet their pupils’ needs.
Person Specification for Science Teacher
We want to see a Science Teacher with the drive to utilise their compassion and empathy, especially towards those with complex learning needs in order to create a supportive learning environment. You should have a supportive nature that helps you bond with high-functioning students with moderate learning difficulties. To be considered for this role you must be a confident Science Teacher who has 1 year of solid teaching experience and previous experience teaching children with SEN requirements. You will be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment in a professional way by drawing on your previous experiences teaching students with various special needs.
