We are currently recruiting for a Policy Adviser for a maternity cover of 6-12 months from September 2016 onwards. The Policy Adviser will be part of the Policy Hub in GIP, in the International Headquarters in Woking, and will play an active role in developing policy analysis and positions in priority thematic areas of BIAAG and other global strategic priorities.
You will lead on the development of robust, evidence based policy analysis and position papers on priority thematic issues to support Plan International’s strategy, operations and influencing. Ensuring accurate policy advice and information is available and supports Plan International’s strategy and influencing, including input to advocacy materials, internal policies and strategies and policy messages and recommendations is a key responsibility of the role.
The Person
With prior experience of working on children’s rights and gender equality at the global level, either within an NGO, a UN agency, a government department, or other relevant institutions, you will have extensive experience of drafting and producing policy position papers. Experience of policy analysis, policy development, providing policy advice and translating policy into clear recommendations and messages for advocacy and campaigning will be essential.
You will have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. The role requires the ability to manage multiple demands and priorities. Excellent people skills with the ability to work in a collaborative and supportive way with colleagues in all regions where Plan International works, is key to the success of this role.

Location: International Headquarters in Woking, Surrey (approximately 23 minutes from London Waterloo) Some global travel may be required.
Type of Role: Maternity cover for 6-12 months
Reports to: Head of Policy
Salary: £35-45000 per annum, pro rata
