Chief Accountant

Based in: London

Length of contract: 3 months potentially ongoing

Rate: £400Ltd per day + (negotiable)

The key components:

•To develop and the lead the enhancement of the councils central accounting, the production of the Statement of Accounts and wider financial management and reporting within the council

•To deliver planned outcomes linked to the council`s Strategic Plan

•To deliver the Service Plan through a performance management framework

•To work with managers across the organisation to support, inform and enhance business development and service delivery

•To ensure that the organisation reports its financial performance in a timely and accurate manner to support decision making, scrutiny and external assessment

•To ensure that internal and external financial reports meets the needs of stakeholders

The successful candidate will have:

•Detailed knowledge and understanding of the financial framework within which a Local authority entity operate

•Experience in the preparation of the annual statement of accounts for a local authority

•Knowledge and experience in the application of IFRS within local government

•Experience of managing audit processes

•Experience in using Oracle GL, OBIE and Projects- system implementation experience desirable

•Knowledge and understanding of the collection fund

•Experience in group consolidation

•Strong communication skills, and effective team player

•Experience in project management

•Commitment to performance and excellent customer services
