The Head of Nursing Opportunity:


We are currently recruiting for a Head of Nursing at our care home in Acton to supervise & support the staff team in the delivery of holistic care.


The main role responsibilities include:


> To Acting as a point of reference for nursing and care staff, supporting them and developing them to enable a high standard of care delivery.
> To co-ordinate with the home manger pre admission assessments and ensure these are carried out fully and timely
> To liaise with other health professionals to ensure the health and well being of the residents.
> To monitor the care needs of service users and to ensure that planned care meets these needs.
> Carry out monthly care plan audits and reviews to ensure that nursing and care plans accurately reflect the identified needs and the care that is delivered.
> The lead nurse will be required to work some supernumerary hours to fulfil the requirements of the role with the remainder of the hours working on a rota/shift pattern basis to include weekends / bank holidays to enable 24 hour staffing of the home
> To ensure all nursing staff work within the NMC guidelines, CQC requirements, Health and Social Care Act 2008 and company policies and procedures
> To carry out routine audits of but not exclusively medications, care plans, risk assessments, weights, wound care management, incidents/accidents.
> To review all audits in order to identify, isolate and remedy or seek interventions for clinical, nursing and environment trends.
> To act as the lead in coordinating End of Life Programme
> To order and maintain an appropriate supply of medication for the all service users ensuring that all medication and medical supplies are stored, administered and recorded appropriately.
> To ensure that all service users have access to key medical, social and other health care professionals as required.
> To arrange and attend formal reviews as required.


Head of Nursing Required Skills:


Qualifications:


> 1st level NMC registered Nursing qualification appropriate to the service
> RMN
> GSF End of life care
> Dementia Care Award
> NVQ in Team leadership
> mentorship
> Catheterisation
> Phlebotomy


Knowledge:


> Care needs of older people
> Health and Social Care Act 2008
> Person Centred Care & care plan documentation.
> Risk Assessments
> Health and Safety Act
> Human rights of individuals
> NMC The Code.
> NMC guidelines on medication administration
> Safe guarding of vulnerable adults
> Role of CQC
> Quality Assurance system
> Dementia strategy
> GSF End of life care
> Knowledge of pharmacology
> General knowledge of the Mental health Act.
> Tissue viability
> Mental capacity act / Deprivation of liberty act


Skills:


> Good verbal/written communications
> Ability to use own initiative and good time management
> Must be able to motivate a team
> Good record keeping
> Able to be a role model
> Assessing nursing needs and care planning of Older People
> IT skills
> Supervisory skills

Experience:


> Experience in care home setting for the elderly
