Hotel Design Manager - Acromas Shipping Ltd - London



As Hotel Design Manager, you’ll be expected to lead a small team that will play a key role in designing, developing and outfitting two new cruise ships to a world class standard. By owning and managing all hotel design aspects of this project, you’ll be integral to delivering a very high standard to our customers and key stakeholders. Reporting to the New Build Director, the role holder will be operating at a senior level within the business and will be critical to managing both internal and external relationships, ensuring the efficient and on time delivery of the project.

Requirements


  • Prior experience of hotel design for cruise ships at a senior level

  • Technical knowledge of cruise ship outfitting

  • Knowledge of cruise ship hotel operations

  • Experience of project management

  • Supplier and stakeholder management experience

  • Purchasing and buying experience

  • Knowledge of relevant cruise ship construction Rules

Responsibilities


  • Ownership and management of all aspects of the hotel design of the new build project

  • Setting design direction in keeping with the ethos and standards of the Saga brand

  • Creating design briefs to direct interior designers and consultants

  • Setting technical and materials standards in respect of hotel design

  • Contract management of designers and consultants

  • Drawing review, development and approval

  • Management of interiors and furnishings budgets

  • Project resource planning and team management

  • Project activity planning

  • Definition and management of the entire interiors scope of supply

  • Risk management: identification and controls

  • Negotiation with shipyard and suppliers

  • Gathering and interpreting the requirements of the ship owner’s operational teams and ensuring that those requirements are accomplished in the final design

  • Reviewing architectural design specifications to ensure technical standards are met

  • Driving value engineering activities ensuring that Saga brand standards and quality are not compromised in the process

  • As needed and/or directed, making periodic inspections on site during the design process and installation of the project

  • Building relationships with external design consultants, owners and all relevant Saga departments to ensure the advancement of the hotel design in a timely manner

  • Offering guidance to design teams and New Build Director regarding advances within the industry including their availability and potential project application.

  • Developing executing and managing contracts in accordance with divisional contracting policies and corporate guidelines

  • Promoting the development of both internal and external resources to meet the changing new build project requirements.

Additional information


Foreign travel is a requirement of this role
