United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Refugee Crisis Programme Support Officer


The British Red Cross has been responding to the refugee crisis in Europe since 2015 by supporting Red Cross work across Europe with personnel, funds and other practical support. While the rapid movement of people through Greece has stopped, the British Red Cross continues to respond to the refugees situated in camps across Greece. The British Red Cross is also supporting in Italy where large number of people continue to arrive on boats.


The Refugee Crisis Programme sits in the Middle East and North Africa Regional team.
The critical post of the Refugee Crisis Programme Support Officer will support the effective coordination and mobilisation of resources at BRC’s UK Office (UKO) to provide a high level of support to the Europe Refugee Crisis Programmes. Reporting to the Refugee Crisis Programme Manager, the Support Officer will support the delivery of the Europe Refugee Crisis plan and strategy.


The Refugee Crisis Programme sits within the Programmes and Partnerships Department which provides single oversight of our programme work and our long-term capacity building partnerships and disaster management and migration response. The department works in partnership not only externally with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the IFRC and ICRC, but also inside British Red Cross with technical advisers (WASH, health, logistics, cash, finance and HR) and policy professionals in other teams.


The successful candidate will have:



  • Excellent co-ordination and report writing skills




  • Excellent relationship building and communication skills to support delegate deployments




  • Strong research and evaluation skills, to be communicated internally




  • Ability to work accurately and dynamically to solve problems and oversee all programme administration e.g. filing, minute taking, invoices, flight bookings
