Human Resources Manager



Responsible to: CEO


Employment Particulars: Permanent, Full Time


Hours: 0845am to 1715 pm (37.5 hours per week) Monday – Friday


Salary: Negotiable depending on experience


Job Summary:


The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for the overall HR Delivery to the business and dealing with the day to day/ end to end HR delivery, including strategic initiatives to align with the business need. The post-holder will also take an important role in the preparation of the monthly payroll, will plan and implement new and updated employment and corporate law as it affects the business, and will provide reports and statistics on all issues relating to HR to the Board.


Roles and Responsibilities


  • Lead and direct the Human Resource service to deliver a comprehensive HR service to the business

  • Monitor closely employee relations managing absences, disciplinary issues, grievances, sickness etc. Measure employee satisfaction and identify areas that require improvement

  • Performance Management: coaching and advising managers on performance management issues and processes

  • CPD: ensuring that there is a company wide CPD plan that aligns with the business needs and providing guidance on development for managers and their teams

  • Recruitment & retention: managing talent and succession planning; taking overall responsibility for recruitment activity and campaigns

  • Policy & procedures implementation of new HR policies, procedures and processes inckluding the annual review of all existing policies

  • In conjunction with the Chief Executive and Senior Management Team (SMT), ensure all company policies and procedures are up to date and in line with current employment law in relation to staff. Develop and support the implementation of company policies and procedures as they affect customers and ensure line managers and staff are up to date with changes to any policies.

  • Working with senior managers, coaching and advising on all people issues

  • Deal with complex disciplinary/grievance and HR issues, using HR and company knowledge evidencing appropriate decision making skills

  • Managing priorities between casework and projects

  • Managing HR budgets

  • TUPE & Redundancy Experience

Personal Requirements:


  • Superb communication skills honed in business partnering/advisory roles

  • Examples of adding value as both an individual contributor and active team member

  • Experience of dealing with senior and sometimes challenging individuals

  • Ability to build rapport quickly with key members of the executive team.

  • Ability to represent the Human Resource function as part of the bigger business picture

  • Confident directing HR and advising managers on all aspects of people management and development.

  • Demonstrable experience in managing TUPE, redundancy or other relevant HR projects

  • Strong understanding of employment law

  • CIPD or equivalent qualification/experience

  • A professional and commercial approach to HR, with the ability to deliver high employee satisfaction, appropriate development and reward for individuals.

  • Frequent travel will be required to all of Urban Futures sites, all of which are accessible via public transport.
