Course Developer / Technical Trainer - Exciting High Tech Firm

This is a rare and potentially career defining role for a course developer / technical trainer based in a seminal, high technology FTSE 100 business in the heart of the City.

This lean, progressive company sits at the forefront of maritime, aviation, government and enterprise communications operating in over 80 countries with more than 40 offices worldwide. You encounter the company and its Global Training Academy after a period of strategic consultation, which means there is genuine appetite for fresh ideas. Working alongside a team of 5 product and systems based trainers, a small e-Learning team and a collaborative and charismatic Head of Training you will be asked to knit together collective knowledge to develop a body of training material to address the expanding needs of internal staff and a global channel on an evolving product, system and value-add services portfolio. You would still need to deliver training from time to time but your primary focus would be course development. Thus commercial awareness and an eye for the role of training within a pre-sales, sales, support and customer service setting would be extremely helpful, as would a natural affinity for high technology and its life-changing potential.

We really need to find someone who seeks excellence authoring varied forms of training (face to face, blended and e-Learning), leading by example and thus driving up standards. You’ll also have a keen awareness of strategic and training needs analysis, accreditation schemes, effective evaluation and reporting methodologies.

Responsibilities:

• Devising channel training for different audiences such as Sales, Support, and Customer Services


• Identify Training and Development needs for the channel through Training Needs Analysis, accreditation schemes and regular consultation with account managers and customer service departments


• Design and develop training and development programmes based on company and the individual’s needs, providing an evaluation at the end of all training programmes


• Help line managers and trainers solve specific training problems, either on a one-to-one basis or in groups, and evaluate and devise regular reports


• Author, update and deliver courses on Products, Systems, Manufacturer and Value-Added Services ensuring all content is up-to-date and in line with corporate objectives


• Be proactive in maintaining and growing a strong technical awareness along with a solid commercial knowledge, enabling you to consult and deliver appropriate solutions to customers


• Monitor and Review the progress of trainees through questionnaires and discussions with managers in line with customer service initiatives

Essential:

• Excellent knowledge of IP technologies, telecoms, networking or satcoms


• You can’t help but go out of your way to bridge knowledge gaps and develop core skills for others


• You enjoy working with customers, providing technical and technical sales solutions, building rapport along the way


• You have a hunger to distribute technical and customer focused knowledge with a keen interest and understanding of communications media and what each can provide


• You have natural drive to build team work to solve problems and deliver results within timescales


• You understand and implement the full training life cycle


• You are a fantastic communicator and presenter and you are keen to share your ideas

Desirable:

CCNA or equivalent, working within a telecoms/satcoms environment, systems training, Train-the-Trainer, CIPD qualifications.
