United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: Treasurer - Volunteer, Part time
Ubaka U Rwanda (www.ubakaurwanda.org.uk) is a small UK charity committed to turning around the lives of homeless children and young people in Rwanda’s capital, Kigali. Our work helps young people driven onto the streets by the combined effect of the 1994 genocide, rural poverty, and conflicts within families. We founded a centre in 2008 that provides a desperately needed home for young people who have been orphaned, neglected or left in difficult situations. The centre provides shelter, education and guidance with the ultimate aim to help them live a self sufficient life.
We believe that everybody has a right to a life that can be lived. Not just survived.
Ubaka U Rwanda is looking for a volunteer, part time Treasurer to join the Ubaka U Rwanda, UK charity Trustee Board. The role of the Treasurer is to ensure that all the finances and the supporting financial control systems are kept in order. He or she also holds and maintains the financial records for Ubaka U Rwanda, UK. She or he is not the person who makes or approves all spending decisions. The Board delegates day-to-day financial management to the Ubaka U Rwanda, Rwanda Centre Manager and other staff and the Treasurer is the key Trustee overseeing this process, making sure the Board and the Centre Manager are both kept aware of finance matters. The role is estimated at an average of 4 hours per week.
