Teaching Assistant - Secondary - Graduate

This secondary school in Kensington and Chelsea are looking for a recent graduate to start as a teaching assistant. You will work across Key Stage 3 and GCSE age groups supporting students with their learning in the classroom and teaching small groups of students.


The school is in a residential area of Kensington and Chelsea and recently awarded “Outstanding” status at a recent Ofsted inspection. The school has a number of teaching assistants in similar roles and implements a buddy system to ensure that your career starts as smoothly as possible. This school has recently opened a new building and has excellent facilities.


The role starts in November and is full-time until at least July 2016. The SENCO looks for bright, engaging graduates who can bring their creativity and personality to the role. Experience working with young people on a voluntary or employed basis will be invaluable. As part of your development, the school would like you to lead an extra-curricular club. Therefore the school are looking for someone with experience in areas including drama, an additional language or sport.


You will work as a teaching assistant working in the classroom with predominantly KS3 classes with occasional lessons in GCSE classes. Ideally your specialist knowledge from your degree will enable you to work within your specialist subject. Your knowledge of your degree will provide you with a good basis for working within the national curriculum. You will assist the teacher planning, giving lessons and also leading your own support groups with small groups of 8-10 pupils. There will be opportunities to further develop your career through mentoring and ongoing training.
