Head of Accounts
A London Law firm is looking for a new Head of Accounts to assist the practice manager with the day to day running of the firm. You must be well experienced in Legal Accounts, have an extremely up to date knowledge of SAR, and you will be a real people person in order to be considered. Account Managers, Coordinators, Supervisors… please step forward
As the Head of Accounts the role will include but will not be limited to the following:
Duties: Overall day to day running of the accounts department to include supervision of:
- Check month end and close down on the computer system and run month end reports
- Write back out of date cheques to correct ledgers and stopping cheques at bank
- Preparation of cash flows/budgets/and management reports
- Opening new client designated deposit accounts on the systems and at the bank
- Liaising with the bank in relation to general enquiries
- Authorising CHAPS/BACS/Faster Payments and ensuring that balances are in funds
- Accurate filing of documentation on a daily basis and preparing accounts material for archiving on an annual basis
- Checking purchase invoices and reports (including statements from suppliers) and ensuring that they have been paid
- Dealing with the banking of cheques on both client and office accounts
- Ensuring that postings of all payment cheques are correctly posted against the relevant client or nominal ledger
- The allocation of bill numbers to members of staff and ensuring that the bill book is maintained accurately and corresponds with the computer system
- Ensuring that all payments made and bills, credit notes and payments received are posted to the correct ledger promptly and accurately
- Ensure that cheques run in numerical sequence
- Undertake daily client to client and client to office transfers – taking payment of bills
- Daily office and client bank reconciliations
- Deputy Practice manager duties may also be included (TBC)
