Research and Innovation Analyst

At the Royal College of Nursing we’re an optimistic organisation. And we’ve got good reason to be. We all share the same voice when it comes to changing the shape of the health policies of the future. And as the largest trade union of nursing staff and students in the UK – with around 425,000 members – all we can see are the infinite possibilities for a brighter future. Join us and you will too.

We’re number 30 in The Sunday Times 100 Best Not for Profit Organisations to work for, with Best Companies Accreditation for 2015 and are accredited with Investors in People Gold Standard.

As a Research and Innovation Analyst, you will lead on key projects building the knowledge base for the nursing profession and strengthening the reputation of the RCN as an evidence-informed organisation.

It’s a job full of possibilities as you could get involved in anything from scoping a project to data collection and statistical analysis or data modelling, from systematic evidence reviews to policy briefings, from quality assurance to guidance production. It’s a great way to build your knowledge of our work and develop your potential.

You will work with teams within the Nursing department and across the organisation and the countries and regions to:

  • Plan and deliver activities to develop the research, critical appraisal, evaluation (effectiveness and economic) and analytical capability and confidence of nurses and Health Care Support Workers

  • Plan and deliver activities and processes to enhance the capability and confidence of RCN colleagues in building, sharing and using professional nursing knowledge

This is a unique opportunity to get involved directly in applied social research that has an observable impact on policy and nursing practice. You will be in the enviable position to influence nursing through your work from a number of perspectives including professional, health policy and employee relations and work in multi-professional teams and with a variety of stakeholders.

What we offer you:

We expect you to use your expertise to enhance the RCN professional offer. And we expect you to be rewarded for it. As well as a whole range of learning and development opportunities we can also offer you an impressive range of benefits. We have a highly competitive pay structure, as well as flexible working, and annual leave of up to 32 days.

To join us you’ll need proven technical expertise in research design and analysis including the main quantitative, qualitative and evaluation research methods and, ideally, a background in quantitative social sciences, for example, economics, psychology, geography, statistics or other similar.

Whatever your background, you’ll be efficient, applying your project management skills and showing a real customer focus in all you do.

In addition, ability to foster strong professional relationships and encourage close collaboration between departments is at the heart of this role.

To succeed at the Royal College of Nursing all you need to do is think bigger, better and brighter. And with an attitude like that, anything’s possible.
