This is a joint project across the Universities of Cardiff, Bath, Bristol, West of England and the NHS funded by the West of England Academic Health Science Network (WEAHSN). The aim of the project is to evidence how initiatives created and promoted by the WEAHSN across its network of stakeholders and members from the NHS, industry and universities add value to healthcare improvement, economy and society. The themes are multi-disciplinary and combine supply networks and procurement, innovation networks, learning networks, health improvement networks and evidence-based management.
The research assistant will work as part of a Cardiff Business School academic team led by Professor Christine Harland to evidence the value of grand challenge projects launched by the Enterprise and Translation directorate of the WEAHSN. Initial challenges launched include Type 2 diabetes and mobile healthcare (mHealth), the practice of medicine and public health supported by mobile devices.
The RA will be involved in design and implementation of the research questions and methodology relating to this strand of work performed by Cardiff. The empirical fieldwork will involve engaged scholarship through case study research and later validation through survey research. Case studies will involve interviews, document collection and analysis and will be longitudinal. The Cardiff research team are engaged in the challenges so are impacting on their development as well as evidencing their impact.
This position is full-time (35 hours per week), fixed-term for 18 months and is available immediately.
